Webbla 1.4.3, Snow Leopard ready

Even that we are still not ready with Webbla 1.5 we have decided to release Webbla 1.4.3 a Snow Leopard ready version of our visual bookmark manager for Mac OS X.

With Webbla 1.5 we got some delay but we have invested a lot of time in the last weeks to make sharing bookmarks as simple as possible. It turned out that it is quite difficult to implement bookmark sharing the way we want to make it.

Stay tuned and don’t forget to come back to our website and look for product updates and new applications.

Just updated to Snow Leopard. Now I’m getting

“Update Error!

An error occurred in retrieving update information. Please try again later.”

when I check for updates in Webbla.

Sorry for this. I got some mismatch with Sparkel but now it’s fixed.

Hello
Great application!
I´ve updated to version 1.4.3 today (17 Sept 2009) however it still doesn´t work correctly. The activity window lists the bookmarks being processed but it always stay at 0%. It doesn´t check for updates either. I´m running it on Leopard.
Version 1.4.2 works fine.

Hi,

we have tested Webbla 1.4.3 on Leopard and Snow Leopard without problems.
If you are currently using Leopard you can continue to use the previous for you working version 1.4.2.
You can download it at
http://www.celmaro.com/files/webbla/Webbla142.dmg

Thanks

Take it from me. Version 1.4.3 does NOT work on Snow Leopard 10.6.1. You get greyed out pics in half the thumbnails and nothing in the other half. Fail!

Can you take a look in the license panel. Is Webbla still registered on your name. It seems like Webbla fall back in the trial mode.

Bug report for new-user experience:
Using Snow Leopard 10.6.2 with Safari 4.0.4. Safari and Firefox the only browsers installed. I imported about 300 Safari bookmarks into Webbla. Turned off “Check for web site updates,” “Use Plug-Ins” “Use Javascript” and “Use Java” from Preferences.
Webbla would start, process between 5 and 30 bookmarks (indicated in the upper right corner) and would then stop responding. Caused system slowdown – could it be typing up the network stack somehow? An activity monitor sample showed it 99% idle, just allocating gigabytes of virtual memory. Gave it about 15 tries, had to Force Quit each, hoping that it would eventually process all bookmarks 5 to 30 at a time, but it never got to 0 so I couldn’t really use the product.
Best regards.

1.4.3 crashes on startup. I’m using a 2007 MacBook Pro and 10.6.2

celmaroDecember 14th, 2009 at 5:22 pm

If Webbla 1.4.3 crashes on startup I can only suggest to use Webbla 1.4.2.
We have tested Webbla 1.4.3 on Leopard 1.5.8 and Snow Leopard 1.6.2 without problems and are not able to reproduce the bug on our systems.

You can download Webbla 1.4.2 here:

Hope to see the new version out soon so I can buy…. with delicious integration. Have a good Christmas.

I would like to also report that my just-purchased copy of Webbla 1.4.3 crashes immediately upon startup. I’m running Mac OSX Leopard (10.5.8). However, I did download the 1.4.2 (as described in the link above) and that version seems to be working just fine.

Gr8 concept but a lot of bugs. I have macbook/leopard, it crashes every 5 minutes.

Still looking our for the new version with delicious integration. I have just been trying out a new product in beta called bookmacster which has this (as well as link checking) but visually and in terms of design, your product is way ahead. However, I need something to replace my aging bookmark manager… any news on next release?

webbla 1.4.3 crashes on me every time i start to use it on 10.5.8
everything i did was import a firefox exported html file. tried with deleted prefs, still the same. this is the same in demo mode as well as in “registered mode”. i tried on two machines, still the same errors.

here is my crash report: http://pastie.org/824397

If you are working with Leopard ( Mac OS X < 10.6 ) please follow our suggestion to use Webbla 1.4.2. It have the same functionality as 1.4.3 but is a only 32-bit version. We are not able to reproduce the problem with Leopard on our Mac's. With Webbla 1.5 where we are working on, hopefully this problem will be solved. We know that we got a huge delay but we want to make the delicious integration really good. To let our user press a button to sync is not enough for us.

I’m using Webbla 1.4.3 and I can only use it to bookmark pages from Safari and not with Firefox. Is this an issue?? Does this program only works with Safari?? I can’t either open my bookmarks in firefox when I click on them. As soon as I click on them in Webbla, Safari opens to show the bookmark. I’m kind of disappointed. Any hint on this?? Solution???

I have just recognized it some days before when a user got the same problem with Firefox 3.6.
It seams the the new version of Firefox limits the accessibility to the current url.

http://www.dmahaffy.com/2009/04/firefox-35-beta-and-applescript-still.html

I am not sure to find a quick solution for this problem and I don’t understand at all why Firefox is missing this functionality now.
The only thing I can suggest you for now is to use the bookmarklets of Webbla which will still work to add bookmarks and to set Firefox as default browser.
