{"id":483,"date":"2010-12-06T10:55:46","date_gmt":"2010-12-06T06:55:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/celmaro.com\/bl\/?p=483"},"modified":"2011-12-10T06:42:54","modified_gmt":"2011-12-10T02:42:54","slug":"how-to-use-webbla-with-mobileme-or-dropbox","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.celmaro.com\/bl\/?p=483","title":{"rendered":"How to use Webbla with MobileMe or DropBox"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you want to access your bookmarks form different Mac&#8217;s you have to move your bookmark database in the cloud or on a server in your local network.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Webbla don&#8217;t offer the functionality to change the location of the bookmark database by itself but you can do so by using a <a title=\"symbolic link\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Symbolic_link\" target=\"_blank\">symbolic link<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Step1)<\/p>\n<p>The first thing you have to do is to move the folder containing the database to the folder you would like to use.<\/p>\n<p>The bookmark database folder of Webbla is located in<\/p>\n<p><em>~\/Library\/Application Support\/ <\/em><\/p>\n<p>and named &#8220;<em>Webbla<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>You must create the link on the enclosing folder and not on the database directly.<\/p>\n<p>Step2)<\/p>\n<p>After you have copied the folder containing the database open the Terminal application and change the directory to the &#8220;Application Support&#8221; folder in the user library.<\/p>\n<p>The easiest way to do this is to select the &#8220;Application Support&#8221; folder in Finder and to drag it on the terminal window and press return. If you have more experience with the Terminal you can also use cd to navigate to the folder.<\/p>\n<p>Step3)<\/p>\n<p>Now create the symbolic link by entering in the terminal<\/p>\n<p><em>ln -s \/Volumes\/Snow\\ Leopard\/Users\/marc\/Desktop\/Webbla Webbla<\/em><\/p>\n<p>and pressing return.<\/p>\n<p>(ln -s [path to the new location of the folder] \u00a0[name of the link])<\/p>\n<p>The path <em>\/Volumes\/Snow\\ Leopard\/Users\/marc\/Desktop\/Webbla <\/em>must be modified\u00a0\u00a0from you to point to the Webbla folder you have moved. In the example above the folder was moved to the Desktop.<\/p>\n<p>Result)<\/p>\n<p>If you have done all well the symbolic link is created in the &#8220;Application Support&#8221; folder and will look like this.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/celmaro.com\/bl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Screen-shot-2010-12-06-at-10.36.30-AM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-484\" title=\"Screen shot 2010-12-06 at 10.36.30 AM\" src=\"http:\/\/celmaro.com\/bl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Screen-shot-2010-12-06-at-10.36.30-AM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"132\" height=\"105\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now you should be able to start Webbla as you did it before.\u00a0That&#8217;s all.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that the database of \u00a0Webbla is based on SQLite and thereby <strong>not multiuser\u00a0capable<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>We strongly recommend to <strong>access the database only from one Mac at the same time<\/strong>.
