Apple just released Safari 5.0 and we are ready with our first extension for Webbla.Safari 5.0 offers a new API for developers to create extensions. Extensions are a new way to securely enhance and customize the browsing experience. We have created a Safari Extension which allows to add and modify bookmarks in Webbla.
How to activate Safari Extensions:
Extensions are not activated by default in Safari 5. To activate the extensions you must activate first the developer menu, what can be done in Preferences -> Advanced. In the Develop menu you can choose “Enable Extensions” and you are ready. After downloading the Safari Extension you can install it by double clicking the downloaded Webbla.safariextz. After confirming to install you can use the Extensions to add and modify bookmarks like you have done with the bookmarklets.

So have fun and enjoy the new functionality in Safari 5.0

While this application looks very promising, I’m puzzled by several things. First, the web page thumbnails, which are supposed to appear in the grid view, are darkened, so that they are almost completely impossible to see. Are the thumbnails darkened because the application does this while in “trial mode”? Does anyone know? If so, then it would helpful if the developer, the company communicated this fact. Else, why buy Webbla? Without viewable thumbnails, Webbla becomes “just another bookmarks manager.” Second, when a thumbnail has no web image yet, presumably because Webbla has not yet retrieved it from the web site, then why does the thumbnail not update with the actual image immediately, when you click on the thumbnail to open the web page? All in all, there are simply too many mysteries about this software, ie., undocumented “features” to trust that purchasing it would be beneficial.
I ma not a Webbla user yet, but what might make me one is an option to have a system-wide bookmarks menu in the menu bar that shows all the Webbla bookmarks organized by folder or tag or whatever. That way you don’t have to switch over to the app just to find a bookmark.
I have downloaded Minco from Apple App Store and it doesn’t do anything. Click on open and nothing happens. Then there is no way in the App for me to email you to let you know. Totally wasted money and time to download so far. What happens next?
I will contact you be mail to see for a solution.
Is it possible to make it a Chrome extension?
Yes we have planned this for a later version.
Currently you can bookmark from Chrome using the shortcuts or bookmarklets.
