News from Webbla 1.5 with Delicious integration

I am very happy to be able to announce that we have planned to come up with a first private beta at the beginning of June.

It took much time to make the delicious integration the way we wanted to do it. This, and the fact that Yahoo switched at the beginning of this year to a new, more secure OAuth authorization system have resulted in a huge delay.

To get an idea what we have done and how it will work you can see a movie preview.

So what will Webbla 1.5 Delicious sync integration offer.

  • Intuitive usage:
You add and remove bookmarks from your delicious account as you do with normal collections.
  • Multiple account support:
You can add more than one delicious account. Changes will be distributed automatically among all accounts.

  • Sync modes:
You can configure Webbla to scan for changes automatically, only once per session when you start Webbla, or manually. Changes you make in Webbla will be immediately synced with delicious.

  • Private bookmark support:
You can keep all your bookmarks within a delicious account private, public, or you can use the individual bookmarks settings.
  • Background syncing:
Syncing will happened instantly in the background without interfering the user interface.
  • Lightweight requests:
Webbla will only request the minimal information he needs to stay up to date. So if you work with a large bookmark library, Webbla will only request the bookmarks which have changed.
  • Yahoo Account Support:
Webbla will only support the new Yahoo ID’s and no classic Delicious accounts. This will offer more security for you (OAuth Authorization ) and let the user interface uncluttered. If you are using a classic Delicious account you can convert and merge your account easily with a Yahoo account in your delicious settings.

If you are interrested in beta testing Webbla you can drop us a mail.

(Please understand that we can make the private beta only with a small selection of user, and that we can not reply to each mail individually.)

The private beta version will work with a separate database not interfering your original data. We also suggest to work with a test delicious account and not to make any test with your main account. Normally sync works fine but we can not give you any guaranty for lost of data.

Hopefully you like what you see.

Marc

  3. I look forward to the beta too. Please keep me in mind!

  4. @Gene A I will send you a mail later today.

  5. If you have bought Webbla, it will be free. For all how have got Webbla for free we have to charge a small update fee.

  6. I would love to test this too, Im looking at all visual bookmarking, readitlater style apps and I am hoping to find something that satisfies some or all of this! As It’s storey lacking across devices, and even more important now with iPads and iPhones

  7. Please move me to the top of that list 😉 Love Webbla !
    ( I asked, because I can ) ..

    Cheers

    Dan

  8. Good day,

I’d be glad to help for this beta version too, I wasn’t able to use Webbla until now because of the lack of integration with delicious so it’d be amazing to see how it goes.

    Best,

  9. Hi Celmaro staff,

I’m a little late (just learned of Webbla through a blog post on Safari extensions), but if you still need beta testers for your 1.5 version I’d very much like to participate. I have a huge delicious collection and am eager to replace my current bookmark browser with something more up to date and state of the art.

    Thanks in advance!

  10. Hi,

I too was not able to try/use Webbla due to its lack of delicious integration. Would love to participate in the beta!

    Regards,
    JP

  11. Please fix the always blurred Thumnail’s. They look very fuzzy in any size 🙁

  12. To be honest, don’t see any difference to the thumbnails and text you get in Finder Coverflow. I think it’s more a Cora Animation issue on OS X.

  13. Hi, I will send you the instructions by mail.

It’s never to late to enjoy our beta.

    Thanks, Marc

  14. I’m glad Webbla is still in development. I use it and hate to see that it has been abandoned.

Webbla seems to be a little sluggish. Is there anyway I can improve that? Or is there a limit to how many bookmarks I can have in the program? I have a couple thousand.. I like the functionality of it but overall it worries me a little. Thank you

  15. There is no limit in how many bookmarks you can handle with Webbla but there are 2 issues making it some sluggish with large bookmark libraries.
    1) The grid view. We have optimized this in Webbla 1.5 and will continue to work on.
    2) Creating thumbnails and checking for website updates. We are working on a solution to do this in a external task outside of Webbla in a later version.

  16. Sounds like a great idea but why force people on Yahoo accounts? Would be nice to have gmail and other accounts possible also.

  17. GMail and other accounts don’t work with delicious. If you create a new Delicious account you need a Yahoo ID. If you have a existing delicious account you can associate your delicious account with a Yahoo ID.
The new account type is more secure and Webbla will never know your username and password as oAuth exchange only token. We are considering to add a Pinboard adapter, and maybe we will include the old style delicious account type in a later version.

  18. I would like to be added to the list of beta testers if it is still available.

  19. Count me in.
    I’d like to give webbla+delicious a try.

  20. This is great news! I too, like others, thought Webbla was abandoned eventually. I can’t wait to try the beta myself!

  21. Wow, heck yes. This is the best bookmark manager on the Mac bare none. I will do my share to get you more backlinks and exposure. Developer to developer, you rock Celmaro!!

Count me in the beta if needed, just signed up for delicious and wow your integrating it, awesome!

  22. Hi there. Have sent a few emails in the past indicating my interest in Webbla with delicious. Can I gain access to a beta version. I am an ICT Facilitator in a school with a large (over 5000 links) delicious collection so I can test it at the upper end with a good load. Have beta tested software before.

  23. Oooh oooh me too please!! That’s been the only hurdle for me; that I’ve not been able to sync my bookmark managers. I’m really excited to see what this can do. Can I take the beta for a trial run??

  24. I would like to be added to the list of beta testers if it is still available.

  25. Hi, I’d like to be a beta tester too. I use Delicious heavily and I am also considering moving over to Pinboard as well.

  26. I would also like access to the Delicious integration beta. I have been waiting for this for some time and need a better way to manage my bookmarks that are on Delicious.

    Thank you.
