How to send Plug Spy Alert Notifications to the iPhone

If you are using Plug Spy our instant alert software for Mac OS X Lion to protect your MacBook, you can send alert notifications to your iPhone using Growl.

You will have to install the Prowl or Boxcar Growl plug-in on your Mac and the corresponding App on your iPhone.

In our tests the notifications arrived immediately with a delay of approximate 5 seconds on our iPhone. It depends on your preferences if you will use Boxcar which is free but display advertisement in the App or Prowl which is without advertisement and you will pay some bucks for it.

Installing the Growl plug-ins is easy. Go on the Boxcar or Prowl website to download the plug-in.

When you open the downloaded file it will ask you if you would like to install the plug-in and give the option to open the setting page of the plugin. You will have to enter the username and password you will get when you register for the web service. The same username and password you will have to enter in the iPhone App. To test if the notifications are working use the Preview button in the plug in settings panel. If the message arrive on your iPhone you are ready and the last setting will be to select the plug in name as the default style in Growl or as application display style in the application setting of Plug Spy.

In a later version of Plug Spy we may support the web services native without the need of Growl.

If you prefer to receive an email or SMS instead you also find a a corresponding display style in Growl.
